Subject syllabus

1. Metallurgical feedstocks. Preparation of feedstock for pig iron production.
2. Production of pig iron in a blast furnace. Production technology and basic principles.
3. Products of blast furnaces, current ecological aspects of pig iron production, alternative methods of pig iron production.
4.Steel production. Basic production technologies in oxygen converters. Basic production technologies in electric arc furnaces. Steel casting.

5. Importance of the foundry industry, preparation of a mold, production of molds and core making.
6. Principles of foundry processes.
7. Melting and casting metals, finishing of castings.
8. Basic alloys for the production of castings from ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

9. Principles of metal working - division of metal-working processes, principles of plastic deformation, development of structure during metal working.
10. Rolling process 1- theory of longitudinal rolling, rolling long shapes – types of shapes, equipment and arrangement of rolling mills.
11. Rolling process 2 - rolling flat shapes and pipes – types of shapes, equipment and arrangement of rolling mills.
12. Forging - input semifinished products, division of operation of hammer forging, swage forging, equipment of forge shops, examples of forge shops; wire drawing and extrusion –basic description of technology.
