Subject syllabus

1) Introduction into forming, crystal structures of metals, lattice defects, mechanisms of plastic deformation.
2) Strain, strain states, strain rate, deformation friction, basic laws of plastic deformation, stress, stress states, limit plasticity.
3) Factors affecting deformation behaviour of metallic materials.
4) Softening processes during forming of metallic materials, mathematical description of stress-strain curves during cold and hot forming.
5) Characteristics and possibilities of using plastometric tests and simulations.
6) Fundamentals of heating metallic materials before forming (forming temperatures, physical bases of heating, accompanying phenomena of heating, methods of heating, types of furnaces).
7) Theoretical aspects of rolling (deformation zone, biting into rolls, types of rolling stands and mills, characterization of rolled products), initial and semi-finished products for rolling.
8) Rolling of flat products.
9) Rolling of long products and tubes.
10) Theoretical aspects of forging (initial materials for forging, influence of forging on structure and properties of forgings), open die forging.
11) Closed die forging, forming machines in forges.
12) Fundamentals of wire drawing and extrusion of metallic materials.
