Subject syllabus

1. Introduction to metal production. The role of non-ferrous metals in low-carbon energy. Basic classification, overview of properties.
2. Heavy non-ferrous metals - properties, importance in structural applications of energy equipment, availability and recycling.
3. Non-ferrous metals - production technology, material properties, applications in electronics and energy (e.g. conductivity, resistance).
4. Heavy metals - key elements for modern clean technologies (e.g. fuel cells, electrolyzers), production methods, properties.
5. Extraction of metals as a by-product - emphasis on environmental aspects of extraction and production.
6. Metal refining - environmental and technological aspects, energy saving opportunities.
7. Light metals - use in extreme conditions of power plants, material and ecological aspects.
8. Rare earth metals and lanthanides - role in renewable energy technologies and storage systems, their sustainability.
9. Radioactive metals - their material properties, safety and environmental aspects, future applications.
10. Structural metals in energy - properties, processing, applications in low carbon energy systems (nuclear, hydrogen, solar, etc.).
11. Environment and non-ferrous metallurgy - pollutants, legislation, environmental impact of metal mining and production.
12. LCA and BAT - best available technologies in non-ferrous metallurgy, life cycle of metals, climate impacts, Green Deal and EU strategy.
13. Innovation and trends in non-ferrous metallurgy - clean technologies, CO₂ reduction, energy efficiency, new directions in metal production and processing.
