1.Past and present of production of cast iron. Distribution of iron according to graphite shape, mechanical and physical properties. Basic types of cast irons and their use in industry.
2.Theoretical foundations of crystallization and formation of cast iron structure. Phase diagram of iron-carbon. Effect of chemical composition and cooling rate on the microstructure. Structural diagrams of cast iron.
3. Eutectic crystallization. Effect of physicochemical state cast iron eutectic crystallization. Degree of graphitization of cast iron. Alloyed cast iron.
4.The morphology of solidification of cast irons. Linear and volumetric changes during solidification of cast irons. Volumetric shrinkage of cast iron castings. Sizing riser and gating system.
5.Auxiliary facilities for smelting iron. Cupola fonace, construction. The basics of melting process in KP. Feedstock, changes in the chemical composition of the charge. Intensification melting KP.
6. Metallurgical processing of iron in an electric induction furnace, melting principle, design, modification of the melt. Smelting iron in an electric arc furnace - changing the content of the main elements. Thermal analysis of cast iron.
7.Ladle desulfurization, desulfurization technology principle and cast iron - CaC2, Na2CO3, CaO. Method Gazal. Rotary gas furnace, holding furnace.
8.Solutions of molten metals, types of solutions, thermodynamic activity, activity coefficients, interaction coefficients.
9.Application of the laws of thermodynamics to the molten iron. The solubility of oxygen in the iron. Interaction of carbon-silicon. The use of thermodynamic relations for the EIP of melting. Measurement of the oxygen activity in cast irons.
10.Vaccination. The thermodynamic nature of vaccination, vaccination hypothesis, the effect of oxygen on the vaccination process, mechanism of action and methods of vaccination.
11.Modifications, conditions, loss of Mg. Fundamentals of Thermodynamics modification. Definitions modifying pressure. Reaction of Mg, and Ca-S-S. Deoxidation effect of Mg, Ca, Al-modifying. Control methods of modification.
12.Technology of modification. Methods of irrigation, dip, converter, continuous. Methods cored. Comparison modification methods.
13.Technological of cast iron construction castings. Principles of design in terms of quality, static, dynamic, fatigue and shock loads.
14. Defects of iron castings. Microstructural defects. Shrinkage, blow holes, bubbles, struskovitost. Inadequate mechanical and physical properties.
