The sustainability of mould and casting production of iron alloys lies in the greening of processes while maintaining or improving production quality. Current efforts focus on the development of more environmentally friendly moulding mixtures, the reduction of waste and its reuse as secondary raw materials, the efficient management of melting processes, and the reduction of casting defects.
The course focuses on the theoretical and practical aspects of the preparation and application of various moulding and core sand mixture technologies for foundry mould production, the properties and evaluation of sand, as well as regeneration, environmental sustainability, and waste management. Attention is also given to the interactions between individual components of moulding mixtures and development trends. Furthermore, it covers the metallurgy and technology of cast iron and steel, their melting, secondary processing, the castability of iron alloy castings, and modern trends in metallurgy. The course also addresses casting defects in iron alloys, their causes, and methods of elimination.
