Materials engineering from the point of view of safety and reliability

Course aims

Student will be able:
to define principal characteristics of main groups of engineering materials;
to analyse relations between internal structure and properties of engineering materials;
to define principle approaches how to solve problems of safety and reliability of engineering materials;
to characterise main degradation mechanisms of engineering materials;
to propose solutions how to reduce a risk of defect formation or materials destruction.
