Material testing and degradation mechanisms

Summary

Basic mechanical tests of engineering materials in relationship with the action of various degradation processes. Principal kinds of engineering materials failure. Testing of mechanical overloading in the case of ductile fracture. Principles and testing of resistance to fatigue failure, creep, corrosion, stress corrosion cracking and to basic mechanisms of wear of functional surfaces. Methods of evaluation of experimental results and their interpretation.
