Fundamental of testing mechanical properties.
Crystallization of metals and alloys, basic binary diagrams.
Iron-carbon diagram. Crystallization of alloys with graded carbon content.
Characteristics of steels, types, optimization of structure and properties.
Basics of heat treatment of steels.
Overview of technically important non-ferrous metals.
Ceramic materials - porous and technical ceramics, examples, properties, application.
Polymer materials - technical significance of macromolecular substances. Basic classification, most important examples, properties, and application.
Composite materials - classification of composite materials by reinforcement (particle, fiber composites), division by matrix (polymer, metal, ceramic), examples, properties, and application.
Progressive methods of processing materials.
