Summary

Course Description:

The course focuses on developing students’ professional communication skills in English in the fields of engineering and mechanical engineering. Students acquire basic technical terminology and learn to describe technical equipment, its functions, properties and parameters. They become familiar with the language used to describe technical processes and systems. Emphasis is placed on understanding technical texts and documentation, presenting technical information, and communicating effectively in a professional environment.

Upon completion of the course, students will achieve the following learning outcomes:

Professional knowledge: Students know basic technical terminology in engineering and mechanical engineering, including the names and functions of common technical equipment, components and materials, as well as basic language structures used to describe technical objects, properties, parameters and processes. They are familiar with basic types of technical texts and documentation.

Professional skills: Students are able to describe technical equipment, its components, functions and basic parameters in English; use technical terminology in both spoken and written communication; find and interpret information in technical texts; and formulate basic descriptions of products, equipment and technical processes. They are also able to compare basic technical solutions and communicate technical information in professional contexts.

Professional competences: Students are able to use English for basic professional communication in engineering and technical environments, work independently with English-language technical materials and documentation, and present and explain basic information about technical equipment, products and processes. They are able to communicate in common professional situations and further develop their professional English independently.
