Subject syllabus

1. Defining basic concepts, managerial competencies, competency models, managerial competences in the process model, managers' competence at different levels of management, managerial functions and roles.
2. Typology of personality and its importance for managers, perception and its meaning, managerial styles.
3. Communication skills, support communication principles and its usage.
4. Presentation skills, active listening, LISTEN method – active listening and feedback.
5. Process and phase of conflict, role of manager in conflict situations, conflict resolution procedures.
6. Basic concepts, decision process and its structure, selected methods and techniques of decision making (Occam's Razor, Ishikawa Diagram, Brainstorming, Brainwriting, Power Field Analysis, Action Plan, Paret Analysis, Multi-Criteria Decision Making - AHP, ANP).
7. Basic concepts, process of delegation, advantages and disadvantages of delegation for managers and subordinates. Základní pojmy, model moci a vlivu, manipula
8. Basic concepts, model of power and influence, manipulation styles.
9. Process model of work performance management, impact of motivation on work performance management, motivation strategy, new forms of work.
10. Basic concepts, managerial styles of leadership (Management grid, continuum of leadership, situational leadership, transformational, transactional and charismatic leadership, leadership by Drucker and Covey, manager in the role of coach.
11. Definition of basic concepts, teamwork, team roles by Belbin, development phase of the team, Deming's team circle.
12. Types of meetings, different types of participants and their characteristics, the most common mistakes and shortcomings of meetings, methods and techniques of communication at meetings.
