Summary

Non-destructive testing, as part of material testing, provides students with fundamental knowledge of methods that deliver objective information without significant damage to the material structure. Students develop comprehension of the principles and applicability of these methods for material characterization.
The course focuses on the application of non-destructive methods for evaluating material homogeneity, anomaly detection, description of defects and failures, and determination of physical and mechanical parameters. Depending on the type of test, students become familiar with the use of these methods both in laboratory conditions and IN SITU.
Further emphasis is placed on the ability to analyze large datasets generated by non-destructive testing, which typically produce a higher number of results compared to destructive tests. Students are guided toward the synthesis of measurement data using statistical and computational methods.
Based on the processed data, students are able to perform evaluation of the reliability of results and the informative value of individual non-destructive testing methods.
