The subject Acoustics and Daylighting deals with the basic physical principles of light and sound and their application in the design of buildings and the assessment of the indoor environment. In the building acoustics section, students will learn about the propagation and assessment of sound (noise) in the outdoor and indoor environment of buildings in terms of their impact on human health, the acoustic properties of building structures, the basics of spatial acoustics and proposals for appropriate measures to improve acoustic conditions in buildings. In the daylighting section, students will learn about the assessment of daylighting and sunlight in buildings in accordance with applicable legislative regulations, the assessment of the impact of shading on the surrounding development and the proposals for appropriate sun protection measures.
Learning outcomes:
- the student will explain the principles of sunlight and daylighting of indoor and outdoor spaces, the principles of sound propagation in outdoor and indoor spaces,
- apply calculation methods in assessing sunlight and daylighting of buildings, in assessing the impact of noise on human health.
- analyzes lighting conditions in the interior with regard to orientation, shading and layout of buildings, acoustic properties of building structures in terms of air and impact sound insulation, basic parameters of spatial acoustics in various types of interior spaces.
