Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to identify the fundamental requirements for VFR flight planning and execution, describe the meteorological phenomena affecting flight safety, and explain the principles of route planning, navigation preparation, fuel planning, aircraft mass and balance calculations, and the use of aeronautical information publications and meteorological information during flight preparation.
Students will be able to apply knowledge of meteorology and flight planning to the preparation and monitoring of VFR flights, develop a flight plan using available navigation and meteorological information, prepare operational and ICAO flight plans, perform basic navigation, performance, fuel, and mass and balance calculations, and evaluate the suitability of meteorological conditions for the safe conduct of a flight.
Students will be able to independently conduct the preparation of a model VFR flight, justify the selected flight planning procedure based on applicable aviation regulations, meteorological information, and operational limitations, take responsibility for decision-making during flight planning, and evaluate risks arising from meteorological conditions, aircraft performance, and other factors affecting flight safety.
Successful completion of the course forms part of the theoretical training for the Private Pilot Licence (PPL). The course is based on Module 033 – Flight Planning and Monitoring and Module 050 – Meteorology, and provides the knowledge and skills required for the theoretical examinations leading to the issue of the Private Pilot Licence (PPL) by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Czech Republic.
