Summary
The course introduces students to the fundamental principles of environmental protection in relation to energy systems. Students will understand the formation, transformation, and impacts of emissions from energy processes on air, water, and other components of the environment. They will gain an overview of methods for reducing the negative impacts of energy source operation, including flue gas cleaning technologies, greenhouse gas emission reduction, and waste management. Students will become familiar with legislative and policy instruments for climate protection and will acquire basic knowledge of environmental impact assessment of energy technologies. The course also includes understanding the importance of water and its protection, the impact of noise, and the contribution of emerging trends such as hydrogen technologies and circular energy systems in relation to sustainable development and carbon neutrality.
