Summary

The course focuses on geohazards that arise after the cessation of mining activities. Students will learn about the main types of hazardous phenomena (subsidence, collapses, gas emissions, flooding, contamination, waste dump fires), their causes, and their impacts on land, infrastructure, and the environment. The course also covers the legislative framework and responsibilities related to the post-mining phase, methods of risk assessment, the use of hazard maps, and spatial planning tools. Emphasis is placed on prevention, remediation, and practical applications through case studies from the Czech Republic and Europe.
