Summary
The course provides fundamental knowledge and skills in technical drawing, engineering design practice, 3D CAD modelling, and numerical modelling of particulate systems. Students will become familiar with the principles of technical representation and the preparation of engineering drawings, basic design elements, and procedures for creating parametric 3D models in Autodesk Inventor. The subsequent part of the course focuses on the principles of the Discrete Element Method (DEM) and its application to modelling the behaviour of bulk materials and processes occurring in mechanical and technological equipment. Students will learn the basic workflow for creating DEM models in EDEM, including the definition of geometry, material properties, contact models, boundary conditions, and basic simulation evaluation.
