Water and Soil Protection

Course aims

Acquired knowledge:
- Knowledge of the properties of water and their practical application, the chemical composition of water, water types.
- Knowledge of the processes of primary and secondary water pollution.
- Knowledge of physical, chemical and biological methods of wastewater treatment and their applications.
- Knowledge of the basic principles of water protection and water protection legislative framework in the Czech Republic and the EU.
- Knowledge of soil properties and their practical application, soil composition.
- Knowledge of the processes of deterioration and soil pollution and pollutants
- Knowledge of remediation methods and their practical application.
Acquired skills:
- Skill qualitative and quantitative expression of water composition.
- Skill evaluation indicators measuring the quality of surface waters and their classification.
- Skill of assessing the impact of wastewater mixing with water in a receiving water quality, application Streeter-Phelps equation.
- Skill liquid sampling and determination of basic indicators of surface water quality.
