Forming Technology

Summary

Content of this subject are drawing and extrusion technologies together with surface adjustment before and after cold forming, thermal treatment and metal coating technologies.
Students will be introduced to theoretical background a technological applications of scale removing (pickling, drying, take on lubricant carrier, mechanical descaling) of forming (distribution of thermo-mechanical values during wire drawing and extrusion, basics of lubrication, lubricants characteristics, microstructure evolutions, drawing machines and other equipment), of thermal treatment (hardening – martenzite and bainite transformation, tempering, basic of thermal activating processes during tempering, annealing-transformation of austenite, basic of thermal activating processes during annealing) of metal coating (hot dip galvanizing, diagram FeZn, phases growth and their properties, methods for surface inspection, tinning, coppering, aluminizing).
Materials testing is a part of the subject (tensile test, bending and torsion test, wrapping test), statistic analysis of data (uncertainties of measuring, terminology, statistical set, numerical characteristics, regression analysis) a evaluating of processes reliability (normal distribution, histograms, control charts, indexes of capability).
