Subject syllabus

Lectures
1. Introduction (basic characteristics and classification of drawn wire (DW) production).
2. Quality requirements on rolled wire (RW) (New trends of steel making, evaluation of influence of selected characteristics of RW on characteristics of DW).
3. Descaling and surface treatment of RW before drawing (Rust and scale, pickling, hydrogen after pickling, mechanical descaling)
4. Principles of drawing (stress and strain in deformation zone, calculations of strain, drawing power a and work, temperature rising during drawing, deformation hardening of feritic and pearlitic steel, dynamic deformation aging, influence of technology on properties of DW).
5. Equipment for wire drawing (construction of wire drawing machines, machine pass of wire drawing machines, accessory equipment, dies).
6. Lubricants (lubricating system, friction mechanism, lubricants take on, classification of lubricants).
7. Thermal treatment (carbon in iron, diagram Fe-Fe3C, martenzite and bainite transformation, TT diagrams, tempering, annealing-transformation of austenite, basic of thermal activating processes during annealing, classification of annealing furnaces).
8. Patenting (austenitizing, austenite transformation, microstructure factors of pearlite, classification of patenting lines).
9. Metal coating of steel wire (corrosion of steel wire, hot dip galvanizing, microstructure of zinc coat, technology of hot dip galvanizing, electrolytic zinc coating, tinning, coppering, aluminizing).

11. Testing of steel wire (static tensile test, bending and torsion test, non destructive testing, wire size testing, testing of parameters of zinc coat).
12. Terminology of statistic set (numerical characteristics, fractiles, regression analysis).
13. Distribution of random variables (discrete and continuous random variable, Gauss curve, histograms).
14. Evaluating of processes reliability (outliers, normal distribution check, indexes of capability).
