Subject syllabus

1. Metrology and its importance, international and national metrological institutions, standards, SI units.
2. Types of measurement methods and measurement systems. Marking measuring circuits in the project documentation. Measuring chain.
3. Sensors, division by the physical principle.
4. Analog conditioning of the sensor signal, operational amplifier, filtering, integration, derivation.
5. Converters voltage - current, A/D and D/A, multiplexers.
6. Transmission line, the types of signals. Fundamentals of electromagnetic compatibility. Basic characteristics of the analog signal frequency decomposition. Sampling.
7. Evaluation instruments, data aquisition cards, data loggers. Properties of measuring instruments.
8. Uncertainties of direct and indirect measurements.
9. Contact temperature measurement methods, types of thermocouples, temperature compensation of cold junction, RTD, thermistor thermometers.
10. Non-contact temperature measurement, totally radiation pyrometers, spectral pyrometers, two-color pyrometer. Calibration of pyrometers. Thermal imaging cameras.
11. Pressure measurements, physical principles of measurement, types of gauges.
12. Measurement of volume and mass flow rate, volumetric meters, orifice plates, nozzles, mechanical anemometers and termoanemometry.
13. Gas analysis, chemical analyzers, infrared analyzers, magnetic analyzers, electrochemical analyzers, sampling equipment. Humidity measurement, measurement principles, types of hygrometers. Determination of particulate emissions measurement methodology.
