Structural and Phase Analysis

Summary

The course covers fundamental experimental techniques which can be used for
microstructural characterisation of technical materials. Attention is paid to
optical microscopy, electron microscopy and X ray diffraction analysis.
Lectures include such topics as physical principles of individual techniques,
experimental equipment, preparation of samples for investigations and
intepretation of results. Applications of individual experimental techniques in
research and testing of materials are illustrated on practical examples.
