FEI has entered into a Gold Partnership with ABB

ABB has become a Gold Partner of our faculty. This step further strengthens the long-term cooperation between academia and industrial practice,” said Dean Radek Martinek.

The partnership primarily includes the involvement of industry experts in teaching, support for talented students, collaboration on professional projects, and the development of direct contact between students and the technological environment of an industrial company.

ABB has already cooperated in the past with several departments of the faculty. Newly, additional departments will join the partnership, thereby expanding the scope of professional activities and opportunities for both students and academic staff.

“Our goal is to systematically connect education, applied research, and the specific needs of industry. Students thus gain direct contact with technologies that truly shape today’s industry, and together we create space for innovative solutions as well as for a smooth transition of graduates into practice,” said Vice-Dean for Industry Cooperation and Commercialization Petr Šimoník.

“Our shared objective is to strategically strengthen the attractiveness of technical fields and contribute to making VŠB–Technical University of Ostrava the first choice for future professionals. ABB wants to be an active part of this journey,” said Pavel Prautsch, Director of the European Operations Center (EUOPC), headquartered in Ostrava.

ABB EUOPC provides technical solutions and services globally in process automation, software development, as well as in the design and commissioning of electrical systems and drives.

The meeting between representatives of the faculty and ABB was also an opportunity to discuss specific forms of cooperation and the future direction of joint activities. Faculty representatives had the opportunity to become acquainted with the company’s technological background and to open discussions on future projects.

“During our meeting, we discussed, for example, how the faculty responds to dynamic changes in the field of artificial intelligence and other technological trends, and what competencies it provides to students to prepare them for the future of industry,” Prautsch added.
