University for life
The campus of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava is one of the largest in Central Europe. It is unique in its location and the combination of sports facilities, accommodation, laboratories, classrooms, lecture halls and offices into one unit. It is a natural part of the Poruba urban district. At the end of it, you will find our partner Moravian-Silesian Innovation Centre.
By combining knowledge from SMART CITIES, 5G network coverage, carsharing, photovoltaic cells, solar panels, heat pumps, window sensors, green roofs and other technologies, we are building our own city and University of the future. All with the knowledge that we are part of the public space for the citizens of Ostrava. We want technology to serve people to have a better life.
Energy committee
Established in 2019, the Energy Committee (EC) has been in operation at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava with the primary objective of proposing measures to reduce the overall energy consumption of the University campus. This goal is being achieved with the support of state-of-the-art technologies and the use of renewable energy resources. An essential mechanism for overseeing and controlling the flow of energy is an efficient energy management system. This system serves as the foundation upon which committee members propose measures and recommendations for minimising energy usage in buildings, including optimising the flow of electrical and thermal energy. The primary focus is on tracking and increasing the proportion of renewable energy resources while simultaneously decreasing the reliance on energy sources dependent on fossil fuels within the overall campus energy consumption.
The Energy Committee actively collaborates with other departments and units within the University. Its activities are a key part of VSB-TUO's efforts to effectively manage energy resources and reduce energy consumption, which is important for the sustainability and operation of our campus.
