The CEETe Innovation Polygon is among the top decarbonization projects

We are combining the forces of technology and science to tackle global challenges such as climate change and sustainable resource use. Our activities, from research to education, are driven by a vision of protecting the planet and improving quality of life. Together with partners from various fields, we strive for innovations that will ensure a sustainable future for all generations.

Sustainable Development

VSB-TUO proudly aligns itself with the principles of sustainable development, which seeks to harmonize economic growth, social development, and environmental protection to ensure prosperity for both present and future generations. This approach emphasizes the balance between these three pillars, ensuring that today’s needs are met without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own. Key elements of sustainable development include the efficient use of resources, ecosystem protection, social justice, and economic inclusion. To achieve these goals, our university leverages innovation, participatory planning, and global cooperation. A significant framework for fulfilling sustainable development, to which VSB-TUO actively contributes, is the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations, providing a comprehensive plan for addressing global challenges.

Social Responsibility

We take responsibility for the impact of our actions on society and the environment. Our university actively contributes to improving the quality of life both regionally and globally through sustainable projects, community support, and ethical practices. Our efforts in this area have been recognized at both the regional and national levels, demonstrating our commitment to transparency, equality, and inclusion. We are proud that our efforts yield tangible results, which are appreciated by experts and the general public alike.

UniLead

In 2022, we joined the UNILEAD (University Leaders in SDG) project, which brings together 24 public universities from across the Czech Republic. The goal of this project is to share experiences and inspire each other in implementing sustainable development principles into the daily operations of our institutions.

Our university actively participated in developing strategies focused on smart energy management and responsible procurement, particularly in public tenders. We contributed to creating practical recommendations and best practices that help other universities optimize their operations and move towards sustainability.

The results of our work, including useful recommendations, can be found on the website of Masaryk University, which coordinates the UNILEAD project. Through this project, we aim not only to contribute to a more sustainable operation of our university but also to inspire other institutions to take similar steps.

Although the UNILEAD project has officially concluded, our collaboration with other universities continues. Sharing ideas, experiences, and innovations in the field of sustainability remains essential to us.
