Sustainable campus

The university is not only a place of education but also a modern smart campus and a living laboratory of sustainable innovations. Here, we test and implement smart solutions for a sustainable future. From intelligent water management, recycling, and resource reuse to biodiversity support – our campus serves as a testing ground for advanced technologies and eco-friendly practices. Together with our partners, we are creating an environment that respects natural resources and offers students, staff, and visitors the opportunity to be part of this change. Join us and help create a campus that serves as a model for sustainable development and smart solutions.

Campus in Numbers

The VSB-TUO campus exemplifies effective sustainability management. Clear statistics help us track progress in areas such as energy consumption, waste generation, and the use of renewable resources. This data serves as the foundation for strategic planning and campus operations optimization, enabling continuous improvements in sustainable development.

Through these measurements, we can enhance efficiency, reduce our environmental footprint, and strengthen our commitments to environmental responsibility.

Rainwater

At VSB-TUO, we use rainwater as part of our sustainable initiatives. This water is primarily utilized for irrigating greenery and flushing toilets in selected buildings. This approach not only reduces potable water consumption but also contributes to the efficient management of natural resources.

We continuously monitor rainwater usage and explore additional ways to integrate it into university operations, maximizing campus sustainability and environmental protection.

Water Without Packaging

Our university has committed to significantly reducing the use of single-use plastics. As part of the “Water Without Packaging” project, we have introduced reusable bottles, which are available to both students and staff. Filtration stations have been installed across the campus, providing access to clean and fresh drinking water without the need to buy bottled water in plastic containers. This project not only contributes to reducing plastic waste but also promotes sustainable habits among students and staff. Learn more about how this project benefits not only our campus but also the environment.

Textile Collection

The textile industry is one of the largest polluters on the planet, which is why we have decided to launch the "Clothing Collection" project. In collaboration with the charitable organization Diakonie Broumov, we organize regular collections of unwanted clothing and textiles that you can donate. These items are then recycled or reused to help people in need. In addition to its environmental benefits, this project also promotes social responsibility and gives unwanted clothing a second life. Join us and help change the world, one piece of clothing at a time.

Beekeepers of VSB-TUO

Biodiversity is a key element of sustainable development, which is why we have launched the "Beekeepers of VSB-TUO" project. We have installed several beehives on the roof of our university canteen, which not only help pollinate the surrounding vegetation but also produce honey that we use directly in our canteen and offer to employees as part of a community program. This project helps us protect bees, which are essential for maintaining ecosystems. Take a look at how we care for our bees and learn how you can contribute to the protection of biodiversity as well.
