Seeing What Matters: AI-Driven Optical Inspection in Practice

Presentation abstract: Modern AI has fundamentally changed how optical inspection systems are developed and deployed. Tasks that once required months of manual algorithm engineering can today be solved in days, and systems generalize across product variants in ways that were previously impractical. This talk gives a practical overview of how Grünspecht Vision Labs develops and deploys AI-driven inspection systems for industrial applications. We cover the real benefits AI brings — faster iteration, better robustness, lower engineering overhead — and discuss where the hard problems still live. Drawing on real world use cases we show how modern vision AI handles complex defect detection tasks at production speed and scale. Finally, we present our edge AI hardware platform, which brings model inference directly to the line — reducing latency, eliminating cloud dependencies, and making intelligent inspection practical in demanding production environments.
