The PhD Academy of VSB-TUO provides a comprehensive system of education for researchers.
We place an emphasis on:
- the development of scientific performance,
- career development.
We offer a wide range of courses in:
- scientometrics and publishing (scientific databases, bibliometrics, citations, creation of professional texts, impact monitoring), basics of scientific work (working with data, ethics of scientific work, social research methodology)
- project management (project calls, preparation of project proposals, project management in English)
- intellectual property protection,
- soft skills (presentation, communication and teaching skills)
The lectures will be conducted by:
- lecturers from VSB-TUO,
- experts from selected scientific workplaces within the Czech Republic,
- international lecturers and experts.
The courses are complemented by a system of support services including:
- the University International Office
- comprehensive advice on study stays abroad - applications, documents, before departure, after return,
- support and promotion of study stays abroad: regular informal discussion meetings with students,
- online consultations,
- financial support for student mobility,
- the International Contact Point - a dedicated care centre providing information and assistance for international students,
- active involvement in the U!REKA alliance of European universities.

- creation of a doctoral section on the Central Library’s blog,
- development of the science and research support section on the Central Library’s website,
- acquisition of literature for scientific writing.

- social integration of students with special needs and specific learning difficulties,
- supporting the integration of PhD students with special needs and specific learning disabilities into academic life.

The courses are held in Czech and English and a certificate is awarded upon successful completion. There is also the possibility of obtaining dissertation seminar credits.
