Leading an effective (and healthy) team requires sound leadership skills across multiple roles.
We default to some of these roles, while other roles may feel are more difficult to apply. That is ok. You didn’t get this role because you were a good leader. But leadership IS a skill and managing other people is something we should continuously seek to up skill in.
In this interactive session, we explore:
- What the roles of a supervisor are (teacher, colleague, mentor, coach, ...?) and are not.
- Understanding and clarifying expectations of each member and the group as a whole.
- Know your preferred style and how it can help or hinder student progress.
- How to build group values that foster healthy group, and supervisor/supervisee, dynamics.
- Navigating interculturality, diversity, and gender (explicit and implicit norms, bias, and
interpretation.
- Feedback – appreciation, advice and evaluation - when where and how.
