This course supports students in conducting their research, planning a research paper, and drafting a literature review.
It teaches the different aspects and strategies related to professional publishing in top-ranked journals. In preparation for writing, students collect high-quality articles from their disciplines and analyse them for structure.
They also start looking for suitable journals, learn about the different types of articles, and stages of the review process. Moreover, they learn how to refer to sources and signal the novelty.
The course informs students about the ethical aspects of research, including responsible use of AI.
The goals for the course are to (1) understand the nature and goals of professional publishing; (2) learn about the research paper structure, including key aspects of new contributions to the discipline; (3) learn about research ethics and research design; (4) understand the value of peer review, co-authorship, and research teams as part of publication; and (5) draft the literature review section of a research paper.
Entry requirements for the course: English B1 (and higher)
Requirements for course completion: 80% in-class session attendance + completion of tasks in LMS + writing a literature review (1st version)
