Description

This set of courses is designed to cover all the necessary areas for the systematic development of language skills - listening and speaking.

Entry requirement for the course - knowledge of English at B1- B2 level.
If students wish to test their knowledge of English, the Institute of Languages can provide an online test. This is not a prerequisite for participation in the course.

Syllabus

Participating in a seminar discussion

Identifying supporting arguments

Referring to the main ideas in a text
5) Forming a stance based on a reading
Offering and responding to opinions
6) Contextualizing
Discussing and evaluating learning and assessment methods
7) Referencing
Using a text to support an opinion
8) Comparison and contrast
Analysing descriptions of similarity and difference
9) Argument and evidence
Examining evidence to prepare for a debate
10) Identifying main arguments and supporting evidence
Evaluating a case study and identifying options
11) Evaluating premise and conclusion in an argument
Presenting arguments for and against
12) Problem and solution
Selecting and synthesizing information
