Academic writing expert Dana Driscoll shares her experience in a series of workshops
Academic writing expert and director of the Jones-White Writing Centre at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Dana Lynn Driscoll, will once again share her expertise with academics at VSB-TUO. In September, she will lead several workshops for faculty, Ph.D. students, and thesis supervisors. Interested students can register for them now.

"We are glad that the cooperation with Dana Driscoll continues and after last year’s experience, colleagues will again have the opportunity to participate in her practice-oriented workshops. This year Professor Driscoll will repeat her series of three workshops focused on integrating academic writing into undergraduate teaching. This will now include a discussion on the challenges and opportunities of teaching in the age of ChatGPT and other AI-generated texts," said Alena Kašpárková on behalf of the organizers.

The series of three workshops titled “Writing to Learn” will take place from 19 to 21 September. "If you want to find out why learning to write is important even at a technical university and how you can effectively support your students through written assignments and formative feedback, sign up. You will have the opportunity to discuss, take a reflective approach to your own teaching, and create educational materials that you can use directly in your classes," Kašpárková invites to the seminars. Those interested can register here.

A Professional Development Day will be held for supervisors of Ph.D. students and other researchers/educators who are concerned with supporting Ph.D. students and early-career researchers in their publishing activities. It will take place on September 22nd, and the agenda includes information on, for example, effective student support practices, methods of providing feedback, as well as new technologies including ChatGPT. Registration is available here.
