With the new semester comes a new offer of PhD Academy courses
About thirty courses are offered to PhD students in the upcoming academic year by the PhD Academy of VSB-TUO. They are aimed at the development of research thinking, research management, and research communication, as well as personal growth and career development. Registration is already open in IS Edison.

"We have stabilised the number of courses and in addition to the established ones, we have also prepared new ones. For example, we will re-open the very popular Discover Your Unique Talents and Be More Successful course, which will be followed by the Use Your Talents in Practise and Manage Your Emotions course directed by the Career Centre. Next, LibGuide: Library Guide to Academic Writing has also been very successful and popular with students (an English version will be offered in February 2024). It will no longer be organised in six blocks but will be held during the whole semester," commented Lucie Hofrichterová, administrator of the PhD Academy.

Traditionally, the PhD Academy will establish cooperation with lecturers from abroad. Sam Illingworth from Edinburgh Napier University will give tips on how to create an interesting and effective scientific podcast, Connor O'Carroll from University College Dublin will lead a workshop on scientific integrity, and Laura Stark from Vanderbilt University in the USA will give a workshop on research ethics. As in the previous academic year, there will also be a Scientific Writing Camp. Dana Lynn Driscoll, an expert on academic writing and director of the Jones White Writing Centre at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, will share her knowledge with interested educators from September 19 to 22.

An overview of all courses is available on the PhD Academy website.
