eBooks at your fingertips - DDA service

eBooks at your fingertips - DDA service
Choose from over 900,000 ebooks on the ProQuest Ebook Central platform and make a request for purchase.

The Central Library offers to VSB-TUO employees and PhD students a way of acquiring electronic books - the DDA (Demand-driven acquisition) model. It is based on a pre-arranged financial deposit, which the library puts into the system and the producer/service provider subsequently opens a collection of e-books from which users choose. The library will verify that the requested title is not already available in another database and arrange the access.

Using this service, we expand the collection of ebooks on the ProQuest Ebook Central platform (the platform aggregates foreign professional titles from reknown publishers), and the advantage for users is quick access to selected literature. If the librarian confirms the purchase of the ebook (within 2 days at most), the user will immediately receive an e-mail with information that the book is available.

You can browse the range of titles on the ProQuest Ebook Central platform by subject or you can search directly.

Titles from the collection are recognized by the yellow icon with the information "Available on request", in the details of the title you will find the information: "You may request this book from your library.".
