Not only interdisciplinary but also inter-university collaboration will be the main focus of this year's Scientific Writing Camp (SWC), taking place on 23–24 April. Open to PhD students and postdocs, the event aims to support young researchers in developing their publishing skills. Registration is open until 21 March.

The PhD Academy at VŠB-TUO brings many innovations in the coming academic year. New courses and workshops will be added, but now not only students but also current or aspiring supervisors can take advantage of the offer. The rules for awarding credits have also been modified. Registration for courses and workshops is already open.
Higher interest from PhD students, PhD students from all faculties at the Scientific Writing Camp (SWC), international students as well as an international mentor - these are some of the novelties of the second edition of the Scientific Writing Camp, which was organized on 23 and 24 April by the PhD Academy at VŠB-TUO.
New premises in the vicinity of the Central Library are available to the PhD Academy at VŠB-TUO. The rooms will be used for courses and other activities of the PhD Academy, which will undergo its first ‘stress test’ on Tuesday and Wednesday, when the second year of the event called Scientific Writing Camp will take place.
The Scientific Writing Camp (SWC) will support early-career researchers, their publishing activities, and above all mutual interdisciplinary collaboration again this academic year. The second edition of the SWC will take place on 23 and 24 April, but those interested can already register until 28 March. The SWC is also open to international students as this time the language of the camp is English.
Registration for the PhD Academy courses in the new semester will open on 1 February. PhD students can again choose from a wide range of courses and workshops by lecturers from both the Czech Republic and abroad. The list is available on the PhD Academy website and PhD students can register via IS EDISON.
Although the PhD Academy of the VSB-TUO is just concluding its second year, some of its events have already established a new tradition. Throughout this academic year, the unique service system aimed at developing the professional skills of PhD students organized a total of 39 courses and showcased its achievements both at home and abroad.
Academic writing expert and director of the Jones-White Writing Centre at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Dana Lynn Driscoll, will once again share her expertise with academics at VSB-TUO. In September, she will lead several workshops for faculty, Ph.D. students, and thesis supervisors. Interested students can register for them now.
The final webinar of this academic year will be held on 1 June. The webinar will feature Clemens Possel from the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology ICT and Michal Kravčenko from the IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center at VSB-TUO. Their lectures will cover topics such as quantum chemistry on quantum computers and AI-based surrogate models in engineering practice. Join us to gain knowledge and insights from these experts.
