Yes, we provide online consultations as well. Book your appointment via the reservation system. For an online consultation, indicate online consultation in the additional info box (notes).
If you need to cancel your appointment, please use the reservation system to do so in advance. Failing to cancel prior to your consultation will result in being marked as a no-show. If you have two no-shows over the course of the semester, you will not be allowed to use the Writing Support Centre services for the rest of the semester.
No, consultations are free of charge.
To start, the tutor will ask you about your goals in the session. It's important to be ready to discuss what you'd like to focus on, so be sure you have a clear idea of what you want to do and bring your materials with you. The tutor will follow your lead. We assist with writing research-based texts, including research articles, review articles, conference papers, theses, and dissertations, as well as with referencing and citation practices. Our consultations cover strategies for effective source searching, database usage, literature evaluation, citation management, paraphrasing, organizing scholarly texts, and utilizing other tools, including artificial intelligence. We can assist you at any point in the writing process, whether you are planning, drafting, or revising.
The tutor will spend time with you on a paragraph or two teaching you editing strategies so you can learn how to do it yourself. The tutor will not edit the whole paper.
