The aim of the three-year EXAscale Quantification of Uncertainties for Technology and Science Simulation (ExaQUte) project was to develop new methods for solving complex engineering problems using numerical simulations on exascale systems. Within the project new computational methods and software tools for solving aerodynamic simulations to optimise geometrically complex structures were developed.

The work of IT4Innovations in the project involved collaborating in the deployment of Hyperloom and COMPss tools on high performance computing systems, and their configuration and optimisation. IT4Innovations was also involved in testing robust algorithms for shape optimisation taking into account uncertainties related to wind loading and structural shape.
