The aim of the LOW environmental impact BRAKE SYStem (LOWBRASYS) project was to develop a new braking system with minimal environmental impact, that reduces emissions of micro and nanometric abrasion particles by at least 50 percent. The project has improved the measurement of micro and fine particles and the understanding of their impact on health and the environment. At the same time, the project generated recommendations for policy makers in relevant areas.
