The aim of the Open European Quantum Key Distribution Testbed (OPENQKD) project is to establish a testbed of a highly secure network using quantum mechanical principles for key distribution. The overall budget of the three year-long project is 18 million EUR, and it is the largest implementation of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) in Europe so far. IT4Innovations' role lies primarily in three areas. The first one is a real use-case of HPC via QKD between IT4Innovations and PSNC (Poznan). The second domain is participation in the development and implementation of key management. The third is a simulation of QKD use-cases of all the partners in the project and also an improvement of the QKD simulator, which is being developed as an open-source testbed in Ostrava. In simulations, we use the resources of the IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center.
