The aim of the project was to develop a methodology to manage the environmental impacts and risks associated with the closure of coal mines. MERIDA aimed to develop a best practice manual that can be used by industry and decision-makers to systematically assess the major environmental risks of mine closure, both qualitatively and quantitatively.
