Welcome to the Institute of Languages

The Department provides teaching of six languages for students of 7 faculties and university degree programmes-Bachelor, Master and Doctoral - in all forms of study (full-time, part-time, even in lifelong education courses).

The Institute of Languages

develops language and speech competencies in English, German, Russian, French, Spanish and Czech (for foreigners) in accordance with the requirements of the "Common European Framework of Reference" with emphasis on the technical vocabulary and language for professional use.

For language teaching

we use the study materials of renowned world publishers, such as Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, Pearson and Longman, Fraus. There are also specialized university texts, dictionaries and professional texts with exercises that have been prepared by the teachers of our department.

By teaching languages

we contribute to the integration requirements of the European Union, developing a plurilingual environment and enhancing pluralism of students ' thinking.

In addition to teaching students at VŠB-TUO

we organise yearly language courses for beginners, intermediate and advanced students. The content and pace of the teaching are always adapted to best match the needs and demands of the course participants.
