The Institute offers language tutorials in five foreign languages - English, German, Russian, French and Spanish. Czech language courses are intended for foreign students. In the winter semester of the academic year 2018/2019, the Institute  provides teaching for 3485 students of full-time bachelor and post-bachelor studies (11.1% less than in WS 2017/2018), for 1022 students of part-time studies (by 15.5% less than in WS 2017/2018), for 74 PhD students (5 classes /week) and also for 159 foreigners (8 classes /week) who are studying the Czech language.

81.6% of the students in the part-time Bachelor study are taught in Ostrava, 18.4% in Most, in Prague, Šumperk, Lázně Bohdaneč and Uherský Brod.

In the winter semester 2018/2019 for a part-time Bachelor degree, the Institute of Languages provided consultations for 1722 students. The teaching of 80.1% of the students of the part-time Bachelor study takes place in Ostrava, 19.9% in Most, Prague, Šumperk, Lázně Bohdaneč and Uherský Brod.
