English version
The Institute of Physical Education and Sports (ITVS) at VŠB-TUO provides general physical education classes for all faculties of the university. In the first year of bachelor’s degree programs across all faculties, physical education is a mandatory subject (TvA, TvB). In higher years of bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, physical education is offered as an elective course.
At the beginning of the semester, students select a specific hour for a sport or physical activity based on their schedule of other courses. These activities are the same for all faculties and study groups. Each class has a limited capacity, and if full, students must choose another available slot.
Students can choose from a wide range of sports, including badminton, basketball, bouldering, running training, basic martial arts, floorball, football, functional/circuit training, futsal, climbing on an artificial wall, yoga, fitness bodybuilding, table tennis, tennis, rowing, volleyball, and others.
Students can also earn credit for the physical education course by participating in a training camp. A list of available camps is included in the Edison system among the offered sports for the semester. Students register for a camp just as they would for any other activity. Instead of attending regular physical education classes during the semester, they fulfill the requirement by completing the camp.
Elite athletes competing in top-tier Czech competitions or representing VŠB-TUO may select the “Representation VŠB-TUO (Elite Athletes)” option in the physical education offering. These students will fulfill credit requirements individually, based on the submission of their training plans.
Students with health conditions have the option to attend “Health-Oriented Physical Education” (no medical certificate required) or to register for “Exemption from Physical Education.” In the case of exemption, students must provide a medical certificate. A form for the exemption will be sent after registering for the course. These students will be assigned a remote task to fulfill the course requirements.
Students enrolled in an elective training camp through OSP must register for the camp using a form available on the ITVS website under the specific course listing.
Physical education classes are conducted at various sports facilities. Students should verify the location of their selected activity and account for the time required to travel there. The offerings also include activities held at the FBI building in Výškovice, the FAST building, and external sports facilities outside the Poruba campus.
Credit requirements will be communicated to students during the first physical education class.
Registration for physical education is done through the Edison information system.
Each student may select only one sport within their registered course
