The PhD Academy of VSB-TUO has opened registration for the next semester. A wide range of courses by internal and external lecturers, including international ones, await those interested. Compared to the previous year, the number of courses has increased and the organisers have also simplified the registration system.

"Doctoral students can apply easily via IS Edison, under the CZV tab. We have also devised an instructional video for them," said Lucie Hofrichterova, administrator of the PhD Academy.

A list of courses for the winter semester, including their content, has already been prepared. It is available on the PhD Academy website. In their design, lecturers have taken into account the comments of the participants of the pilot run of the PhD Academy and have strengthened or added activities in which students have shown great interest.

"While last year PhD students could choose from 27 courses in the winter semester, the upcoming one will present 36 of them. We will add courses focused on presentation skills, and we have expanded our course offerings in English, related to grant and project application, presentations, and academic writing. Students can also look forward to new math and statistics courses and last but not least, the popular library course," Hofrichterova explained some of the new features.

The PhD Academy at VSB-TUO was created as a unique university-wide support system for doctoral students to help them acquire or master the skills necessary to complete the accelerated doctoral degree programme and further their careers as scientists.

Approximately 360 students participated in the pilot year during the winter and summer semesters. The number of doctoral students at VSB-TUO accounts for more than 1 100.
