VSB-TUO Scholarship Traineeship

Step 1:
Placement and lenght of traineeship

Where to go for a traineeship

  • The traineeship can take place in any country at a foreign partner universitiy or other institution with international environment, primarily outside of the EU (hereinafter referred to as "host institutions"). It is a full time work load according to working plan arranged in advance.
  • It is up to the student to find appropriate host institution and to arrange all the acceptance and working conditions. It is possible to use a service of any job agency or student organization (e.g. IAESTE ) but the Learning Agreement for Traineeship is negotiated with and signed directly by the host institution.

The lenght of a traineeship

  • is from one to twelve months in one study cycle (i.e. the whole bachelor's, master's or doctoral).

Step 2:
Contact faculty coordinator, check the requirements

Ask your faculty coordinator for faculty requirements. Be aware that students are not allowed to participate in the program without the faculty coordinator's approval.

 Consider the institutional requirement as well:

  • A student studying in a bachelor's, master's or doctoral study programme realized at VSB-TUO may apply for the scholarship.
  • You have successfully finished the 1st year of bachelor programme. Within the 1st year of bachelor programme student can apply for the scholarship but the mobility may only take place during the 2nd year.
  • PhD students are not allowed to participate in the programme in the fall semester of the 1st year.
  • You are not being charged a fee for the extended study period.
  • You have accomplished all the study obligations and your study results are excellent.
  • You have a good knowledge of English or a language required by the host institution. Students can pass the English language certificate examination at the Institute of Languages.

Step 3:
Selection procedure

  • All applicants have to pass a selection procedure successfully. The main selection procedure is being held usually at the beginning of the summer semester. It is announced at the Mobility Department website, Innet and sent to all students via e-mail.   
  • During the selection procedure, all students are interviewed primarily in English language. Knowledge of English, study results and the student´s motivation are evaluated.

Step 4:
Before departure, required forms

Fill in all the forms and together with additional requirements submit to the Mobility Department before the study stay begins.

  • Application Form + Learning Agreement for Traineeship - should be submitted via IS EDISON
  • Financial agreement - will be prepared by the responsible person from the Mobility Department via IS EDISON, instructions for financial agreement can be found in the following step;
  • Letter of Acceptance
  • Copy of health insurance;
  • A tip for students is to visit Surgery of travel medicine, specialized e.g. in medical forms in English, vaccination, medical assessment before and after mobility.

Step 5:
Financial agreement, scholarship payment

    Instruction to the financial agreement: 

    • The financial agreement will be submitted by the responsible person from the Mobility Department (Ms.Kamila Radlingerová) via IS EDISON.
    • It should be signed only by the participant and the hard copy (twice) delivered to the Mobility Department.
    • The amount of the the daily / monthly rate of scholarship is determined by a country:
      • for academic year 2026/2027 it can be found in the Rector's Directive TUO_PRI_26_002  in Annex No. 1 
    • The amount of the scholarship for a mobility in a country not listed in Annex No. 1 will be assessed individually by the Rector according to the financial demands of the stay.

    The scholarship payment period is:

    • after submitting all required forms;
    • before the beginning of the study stay;
    • to the student's account set up at a financial institution operating in the Czech Republic, currency - CZK.

    Exception in the payment period: 

    • The scholarship is paid by the end of January if the mobility starts at the beginning of the calendar year.
    • The scholarship is paid twice a year if the mobility continues from one calendar year to another.The first installment (for the period: the beginning of the stay – the end of the calendar year) is paid before departure. The second installment (for the period January – end of stay) is usually paid by the end of January of the given calendar year.

    Step 6:
    During internship

    All required documents have been submitted, now you are ready to set off, gain new knowledge and experiences and find new friends.

    Still there are some duties to be done:

    • If you need to make any changes to the proposed Learning Agreement for Traineeship (extend the internship) ask the faculty coordinator and the contact person at the Mobility Department for approval at least 1 month before the end of your mobility according to the financial agreement. Afterwards, prepare changes to the Learning Agreement (page 5 of the LA). The changes must be approved by both sending and host institution. The responsible person at home institution is vice-dean for study affairs.

    During the last week of your intership:

    • ask the responsible person at the receiving institution for hard copy of the Traineeship Certificate (the last part of Learning Agreement for Traineeship, page 6).

    Step 7:
    Upon return

    Pass these documents on to the Mobility Department:

    Visit faculty international office and:

    • deliver soft copy of Traineeship Certificate to the faculty coordinator
