Step 1:
Placement and duration of a study stay

Where to study?

  • At a foreign partner university as an exchange student. At these universities students are exempt from the tuition fee payment. Some partner universities support our students financially  or provide another kind of support (e. g. free accommodation).

  • At any non-partner university as a freemover. The student is supposed to arrange on the admission requirements and study conditions, also the tuition fee might be required. A list of universities with Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or  Study Abroad in Asia website might help to find the propriate university.

The lenght of study stay

  • is from one to twelve months in one study cycle (i.e. the whole bachelor's, master's or doctoral)
Step 2:
Contact faculty coordinator, check the requirements

Ask your faculty coordinator for faculty requirements. Be aware that students are not allowed to participate in the program without faculty coordinator's approval.

 Consider the institutional requirement as well:

  • A student studying in a bachelor's, master's or doctoral study programme implemented by VSB-TUO may apply for the scholarship.
  • You have successfully finished the 1st year of bachelor programme. Within the 1st year of bachelor programme student can apply for the scholarship but the mobility might take place during the 2nd year.
  • PhD students are not allowed to participate in the programme in the fall semester of the 1st year.
  • You are not being charged a fee for the extended study period.
  • You have accomplished all the study obligations and your study results are excellent.
  • You have a good knowledge of English or language required by the host institution. Students can pass English language certificate examination at Institute of Languages.
Step 3:
Selection procedure
  • All applicants have to pass a selection procedure successfully. The selection procedure are being held twice a year, usually at the beginning of each semester.  They are announced at University International Office website, Innet and sent to all students by e-mail.   
  • During the selection procedure are all students interviewed primarily in English language. Knowledge of English and study results are evaluated.

 

Step 4:
Before departure, required forms

Fill in all the forms and together with additional requirements submit to the University International Office before the study stay begins.

The list of forms and additional requirements:

  • Application form and Learning agreement (hereinafter referred to as "LA") - should be submitted via IS EDISON, the recommended range of selected courses is 20 - 30 ECTS credits, LA must be signed by vice-dean for study affairs; the list of ISCED codes;
  • Financial agreement - the person in charge at University Internationl Office will prepare the Financial Agreemen in IS EDISON, instructions for financial agreement can be found in step 5;
  • Letter of acceptance with the lenght and dates of study period
  • Copy of health insurance;
  • A tip for students is to visit Surgery of travel medicine, specialized e.g. in forms in English, vaccination, medical assessment before and after mobility. 
Step 5:
Financial agreement, scholarship payment

Instruction to the financial agreement: 

  • The financial agreement will be submitted via IS EDISON by person in charge at University International Office (Ms. Eva Hajdučková).
  • It should be signed only by the participant and the hard copy (twice) delivered to the University International Office.
  • The amount of the the daily / monthly rate of scholarship is determined by a country:
    • for summer semester 2020/21 can be found in the Rector's Order TUO_PRI_20_029 in Annex No. 2 or here,
    • for academic year 2022/23 can be found in the Rector's Order TUO_PRI_21_040  in Annex No. 2 or here 
  • The amount of the scholarship for a mobility in a country not listed in Annex No. 2 will be assessed individually by the Vice-Rector for Study Affairs according to the financial demands of the stay.

The scholarship payment period is:

  • after submitting all required forms;
  • before the beginning of the study stay;
  • to the student's account kept at a financial institution operating in the Czech Republic, currency - CZK.

Exception in the payment period: 

  • The scholarship is paid by the end of March if the mobility starts at the beginning of the calendar year.
  • The instalment is paid twice a year if the mobility continues from one calendar year to another.The first instalment (for the period the beginning of the stay – the end of the calendar year) is paid before departure. The second instalment (for the period January – end of stay) is usually paid by the end of March of the given calendar year.

Step 6:
During mobility

All required documents have been submitted, now you are ready to set off, gain new knowledge and experiences and find new friends.

Still there are some duties to be done:

  • Within a month upon the semester starts - check whether your study plan corresponds to the courses you are studying. If not, it is necessary to prepare changes to the learning agreement (pages 5 – 7 of the learning agreement). The changes must be approved by both sending and host institutions. The responsible person at host institution is vice-dean for study affairs.
  • If you decide to extend your mobility ask the faculty coordinator and the contact person at the University International Office for approval at least 1 month before the end of your mobility according to the financial agreement.

Upon return

Pass these documents on to the University International Office:

Visit faculty international office and:

  • deliver hard copy of Transcript of Records to the faculty coordinator
