Summary
Slope-deflection method; simplified deformational method; statically
indeterminate beams; statically indeterminate frames; statically indeterminate
trusses; loading by forces and deformations; 2D constructions, walls, slabs;
subsoil models.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Student can determine degree of deformational indeterminacy of structure. He/she is able to formulate appropriate computational model to solve structure by slope-deflection method. He/she is able to use the slope-deflection method to solve plane frames and trusses. He/she is able to solve multispan-continuous beams and frames by simplified version of slope-deflection method.
Course Contents
1. Introduction. Principles of slope-deflection method.
2. Analysis of beam (stiffness matrix, loads vector, displacements vector). Local and global coordinate systems. Transformations.
3. Analysis of frame. Global stiffness matrix. Global loads and displacements vectors.
4. Algorithmisation of slope-deflection method.
5. Simple cases of frames loaded by forces.
