| Summary |

| Students will get acquainted with the roads sorting and with the categories types of roads and urban roads, with tracing principles (directional and height solutions) and with possibilities of width arrangement. The design principles of the ground solids and pavement structures and principles of drainage will be presented. Attention will also be paid to the use of security features and the possibility to calm urban roads. The course will also include pedestrian and bicycle transport and construction for transport at rest (parking, garages). |
| Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit |

| The aim of the course is to acquire basic knowledge about road design and road constructions, to master the principles of pavement design, to get acquainted with the ways of realization and to get an overview of the influence of the roads on surroundings and the environment. |
| Course Contents |

1. Origin and development of infrastructure. Automotive development, development of road and motorway networks.
2. Sorting of roads, design parameters, categories of roads.
3. Directional design elements of the road. Vehicle stability and view in directional arcs.
4. Height design elements roads. View ensure in elevation arcs. Route design, control line.
5. The cross arrangement of roads. Passage profile. Extension of lanes in the directional arc, tilting of the road, resulting slope.
6. Design and construction of the ground body of roads, modification of slopes.
7. Types and construction of road pavements, design principles, subsoil treatment.
8. Drainage of roads, culverts.
9. A security devices and other equipment of roads.
10. Spatial solution of the route, objects in the route. Multi-criteria evaluation of variants.
11. Crossroads.
12. Parking and parking areas, garages.
13. Non-motorized and mixed-traffic roads. Principles of calming traffic on local roads. |
