The course deals with certification and testing, used as a tool for assessing the conformity of the properties of non-food products with the requirements of technical regulations in the regulated and unregulated areas of assessment in the Czech Republic. The course acquaints with the requirements for authorized and accredited entities that provide testing and assessment of product safety set according to Act 22/1997 Coll., On technical requirements for products and on amendments to certain acts, as amended. The principles of the certification procedure are demonstrated on specific products representing selected product sectors, eg. products intended for emergency operation of fire protection units, equipment intended for environments with a risk of explosion, PPE, etc. |
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit |
---|
The object is focused on the system ensuring the marketing of safe products on the market in the Czech Republic. This system is based on measures within the new legal framework, which ensures the conformity assessment of the safety of non-food products in the European Economic Area (EEA) before they are placed on the market. The aim is to gain orientation in the basic principles of this procedure, determined by the common policy of the EU states, and the application of the requirements of technical regulations and standards to specific groups of products according to the legislation of the Czech Republic.
At the end of the course, students will be able to find out, alone or in cooperation with appropriate government agencies and professional organizations, whether the product safety assessment meets the requirements of technical regulations and whether the content of accompanying documentation provides sufficient information to determine safe conditions of use. The student will be able to apply the acquired knowledge both from the position of a manufacturer or another member of the supply chain, and from the position of a user.
