The basic aim of the course is to familiar with the basic blocks of radio communication chain and principles of radio signals propagation. |

Define the basic blocks of radio communication chain. Describe principles of radio signals propagation. Recognise the methods and means of modern digital radio communications. |
Course Contents |

Theoretical part:
1) Introduction to radio communications.
2) Basic concepts, variables used in radio communication, spectrum allocation.
3) Software in radio-communication.
4) Maxwell eq., frequency spectrum, radio signals.
5) Radio waves in free space, the main types of radio waves, radio waves propagation.
6) The base scheme of radio communication, signal processing. Source encoding, codecs, radio channel.
7) Channel coding, multiply access.
8) Analog modulation.
9) Digital modulation.
10)Antennas I - principles, basic characteristics.
11)Antennas II - basic types, properties and construction.
12)Antennas III - special types, antennae, EH antenna, magnetic antenna.
13)Antenna matching.
