Summary
The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the use of optical fibers not only as a communication medium but also as a element suitable for sensory use. Students are familiar with the differences between communication and sensory fibers, division of fiber optic sensors, futhermore with the basic characteristics, principles and processes, which are using in these fibers for the sensory application and also with practical applications of these sensors.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
The understanding of the basic processes and principles of fiber optic sensors and their differences against communication optical fibers.
Learning outcomes are designed so that students should be able to use or deal with the measurement and the exercises in the field of fiber optic sensors.
